What's in a title?

I've recently posted my latest reduction drawing, "Farewell Apollo." Now I normally don't struggle with titles for finished drawings, and many times I have the title in my head long before I even prep my paper--the title often being my muse. However, this time I found myself working backwards. Before I knew it the drawing was done, I was pulling off the tape, and I still had no name.

I tend to get ideas from odd places. I'm sure many people do. So when I was putting some last touches on the piece (working in some darker values, making the lesser values pop even more), my iTunes played a few tracks from Bear McCreary, and so the title came.

A cross? Apollo? Farewell? No, this piece is not a comment on polytheism versus monotheism. Nor is it suggesting that one is greater than the other. In fact, the closest thing to Apollo in this image would be the man's physique--Kouros. Other than that, the drawing's name comes simply from auditory pleasure. It just happened to be in the right place at the strangest of times.
